What does “18k gold plated” actually mean?
Our 18k gold-plated jewelry is crafted using two methods: electroplated onto brass with a two-micron layer on rings, pendant necklaces and bracelets, and a one-micron layer of 18k gold on our earrings.
How long does 18k gold plated jewelry last before it fades?
It depends on how often you wear it and how you care for it. Look to our care guide for tips on keeping your pieces shining.
Is 18k gold plated jewelry the same as gold vermeil?
All our gold vermeil jewelry in the UK is stamped with the '925' mark to indicate the sterling silver purity. The plating process is different as well as gold vermeil is plated with a process known as ‘electrolysis’, making the jewelry very durable. All our pieces are tested by the Assay Office (which tests the purity of precious metals), as required by law.
Gold-plated jewelry, on the other hand, involves a base metal – brass in our case – which is plated with a layer of gold. It's more affordable but less durable compared to gold vermeil.
What’s the base metal underneath 18k gold plating?

Can 18k gold plated jewelry get wet or be worn daily?
